How does the Pulsense device count steps?

• It detects the movement of your arm(s) with its acceleration sensor when you walk or run.
  

  However, it may not count a step if you don't move your arms when you walk, or if your arm movement is not synchronized with your steps (for example, when you carry an object). It will not count steps when you move your arm(s) while working at a computer. It may count steps however, if you move your arm(s) as you would when you brush your teeth or dry your hair with a blow dryer.
