Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, it’s been great I am most pleased with this product. Wanted something that could scan slides and the results are quite good!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Bought it at Staples literally 1 hour ago, drove home and tried to set it up. It wouldn't power on. The power button felt like an after though... like it came from a toy from the 1980s. Very flimsy and cheap..doesn't even seem like it belongs. Returned it to Staples 15 minutes after purchase. Garbage! Why isn't there a 0 star rating!?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy To Get Started! I received this as a Christmas gift. I have a lot of old transparencies and prints that I wish to digitise and wanted a good scanner with which to attempt the task. This is my first serious scanner, and have run some initial tests and as my experience grows I think tgis will be an excellent tool with which I can restore some very old photographs, some 60 years old!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great product for people like to read and get frustrated. I hooked it up and the scanner worked fine, just like the HP printer scanner beside it. The software however was horrible, hard to manipulate and save to some priority extension that even Adobe couldn’t open. I licked my wounds and returned it for a refund the next day, no regrets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install & use I bought this just before Christmas 2019. This is relatively inexpensive machine that can scan negative films, slides, & prints. I'm still experimenting with it to find out the best resolution for me, but so far I'm very happy. However, I wish they had wet mount process available with this machine. This is the second Epson product that I own - the other is a photo printer R2880. I would definitely recomment V600 scanner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Underwhelming in 2019 The product is of great quality, but the bundled software and its compatibility with modern operating systems is making the experience quite underwhelming. It doesn't work with off the shel professional or commercial applications and uses the original version of Epson Scan when the version 2 is available but nit usable with the scanner. This makes the workflow quite painful fir big batches if photos to scan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fast and fairly easy To make it better l think there should be some simple 'paint brush' app and a better red eye tool. You don't want users to go looking for 3rd party tools. Also it struggles with some older 'odd' size photos and I had to sometimes move it 4 times to get a correct scan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding results from digitizing 35mm colour slides I purchased this scanner about a month ago, after extensive research into methods and equipment to be used for digitizing about one thousand 35 mm color slides dating from the early 1960s. Having completed 700 successful scans, which required between 1 and 5 minutes per slide (including post processing), I am delighted with the results. I have attached 4 examples to illustrate the results, all taken with the simplest fully automatic setting at 400 dpi, with dust removal and color restoration activated. I did several trials in the Professional Mode with Digital ICE technology activated but, since my slides had been carefully stored and were minimally scratched and dusty, the results did not justify the added time required. Minimal-post processing, using clone-and-heal methods to remove defects, before adding a title to the scan, proved to be very effective. I am a retired engineering professor (Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, UK and University of Toronto, Canada) and independent mining and civil engineering consultant, and my work has taken to me in projects in 35 countries around the world. I have taken thousands of photographs on these projects. Some of the most difficult were in the early 1960s, with abysmal lighting and slow film speeds. One example, illustrated in the first three attached photographs, involved a research project on the strength of coal pillars in underground mines, initiated after the collapse of a coal mine in South Africa in 1960. Photographs in an underground coal mine are incredibly difficult and the digital images attached exceeded all my expectations when I set out to scan these slides. With minimal post processing, these results approach the quality that I would expect from today's digital cameras. The 4th attached slide is another good example of photography in an underground metal mine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much more than a Scanner!!! Very gratifying product to use. The nostalgic immersion alone is worth the price. It operates flawlessly, the scanned resolution is more than adequate, especially for a small screen (17") display, and not bad on a 65 inch either. The major benefit is finally being able to easily manipulate, organize and display my photo slides, and provide excellent copies to my adult children and grand children of their parents childhood. It has also engendered intense conversations between my wife and I about events, dates, and locations, which has allowed us to relive some great family adventures. The scanner generated numbering system is inadequate which requires some creative solutions. I also found that the better organized the original slides are, the easier and faster the process advances. Dust removal from the scanned slides takes a lot of time, and processing only 4 slides each pass makes for many days work if you have a large number to scan. A slide "Lightbox" is invaluable. But it is SO worth it!!! I am so happy to have the Epson Perfection v600 Scanner.
