My printout has lines running through it. What should I do?

  • Check which direction the lines are running while viewing the printed image in an upright position (portrait orientation). If the lines are running left-to-right across the printed image, see the suggestions in Horizontal Banding below. If the lines are running up-and-down the printed image, see the suggestions in Vertical Misalignment or Banding below.

    Horizontal Banding
    • Make sure the printable side of the paper is face-up in the rear sheet feeder and face-down in the front paper cassette.
    • Print a nozzle check pattern. If there are gaps in the nozzle check pattern, run the Head Cleaning utility to clear any clogged ink nozzles. See Cleaning the Print Head.
    • Use up ink cartridges within six months of opening the vacuum packages.
    • For best print quality, use genuine Epson ink cartridges.
    • Check the ink cartridge status. See Checking the Ink Cartridge Status.

If the graphic indicates that the ink is low or expended, replace the appropriate ink cartridge. See Replacing an Ink Cartridge.
    • Make sure the paper type selected in the printer driver is appropriate for the type of paper loaded in the printer. See Selecting the Correct Paper Type or Media Type.

    Vertical Misalignment or Banding
