Why is my product making a loud humming sound all the time?

• The printer has suction fans to hold the paper flat in the paper path and an exhaust fan for cooling at the rear of the unit. The humming sound can be heard when the fans turn on. The current firmware turns the fans off when the printer is in idle mode. With previous versions of the firmware, the fans stayed on all the time.
