Checking the Nozzles Using the Product Control Panel
You can check the print head nozzles using the control panel on your product.- Make sure roll or cut sheet paper is loaded in the printer.
- Make sure the correct paper type is selected.
- Select the menu icon > Maintenance > Print Head Nozzle Check.
- Select Start.The nozzle check pattern prints.
- Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.
Printhead is clean
Printhead needs cleaning
- Do one of the following:
- If there are no gaps, select O to exit.
- If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, select X to perform head cleaning.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead, check the nozzles, and repeat the process as necessary.
Checking the Nozzles Using a Computer Utility
You can check the print head nozzles using a utility on your Windows or Mac computer.- Load roll or cut sheet paper A4-size or larger in the printer.
- Make sure the correct paper type is selected.
- Do one of the following:
- Windows 11: On the right side of the Windows taskbar, click the up arrow, click the icon, and then click on your product.
- Windows (other versions): Access the Windows Desktop and right-click the icon for your product in the right side of the Windows taskbar, or click the up arrow and right-click , select Properties or Printing preferences, and click on the Utility tab.
- Mac: In the Apple menu or the Dock, select System Preferences. Select Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners, select your product, and select Options & Supplies. Select Utility and select Open Printer Utility.
- Click Print Head Nozzle Check.
- Click Print. The nozzle pattern prints.
- Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.
Printhead is clean
Printhead needs cleaning
- If there are no gaps, click Finish. If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, perform head cleaning.
