How do I load a legal-size document?
-
Do the following:
Note: If you are loading an original that is 15.5 inches (393.8 mm) or longer, load only one sheet at a time.
Note: The illustrations are for reference only. Although they may differ slightly from the actual product, the steps are the same unless otherwise noted.
- Make sure the vertical path position icon is displayed on the control panel.
Note: If the straight path position icon is displayed, pull the position selector to the right and tilt the scanner forward.
- Open the input tray.
- Raise the input tray extension.
- Slide out the input tray edge guides all the way.
- If you are loading a multi-page original, fan your stack of originals.
- Stack the originals with the printed side facing up and slide the stack so the leading edge is at an angle as shown.
- Load the legal-size original(s) in the input tray printed side down and top edge first, and guide them in until they meet resistance.
- Slide the edge guides against the edges of the originals.
- If the document extends beyond the input tray extension, support the original as it enters into and ejects from the scanner to prevent it from skewing. When scanning thin originals or originals that tend to curl after scanning, we recommend extending the input and output tray paper supports. After loading the original, press both of the buttons to raise the supports.
- Make sure the vertical path position icon is displayed on the control panel.
