How do I print double-sided?

  • Follow the steps below for your operating system to print double-sided.

    Windows
    1. Open the File menu or click and select Print.
    2. Make sure the product is selected as the printer.
    3. Click Properties or Preferences.

      Note:
If you don't see these buttons, click Setup, Printer, or Options, then click Properties or Preferences on the next screen.
    4. Click the Main tab, and select one of the following 2-sided printing settings:
      • Auto: Select this setting to automatically print double-sided using the duplexer.

        Note:
When selecting this setting, make sure you load a paper type that is compatible with the duplexer.
      • Manual: Select this setting to manually print double-sided. When printing double-sided manually, you will be prompted by the printer driver to reload your pages once one side has finished printing.
    5. If you need to adjust the 2-sided printing settings, click the Page Layout tab, then select your options under 2-sided printing.
    6. Click OK.
    Mac OS X
    1. Open the File menu and select Print.
    2. Make sure the product is selected as the printer.

With Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, click to expand the Print window, if necessary.
    3. Select Output Settings from the pop-up menu.
    4. Select a binding option for the Two-sided Printing setting.

      Note:
If the options for this settings are grayed out, make sure you have selected Plain Paper/Bright White Paper as the Media Type setting. If you're printing on letter-size paper, select A4 in the Paper Size box, then select the two-sided printing options you want. Then change the Paper Size setting back to Letter.
    5. Select the type of document you're printing.
    6. Click Adjustments to view more options.
    7. If necessary, adjust the print density and drying time to prevent ink from bleeding through the page when you print on plain paper.
