I replaced an ink cartridge and my product shows that the same ink cartridge is expended. What should I do?

  • If you have just installed a new cartridge and you still see an ink related error, the cartridge may be incorrectly installed.

Follow the steps below to make sure the cartridge is correctly installed.

Note: We recommend that you use genuine Epson cartridges and do not refill them. The use of other products may affect your print quality and could result in printer damage.

Caution: If you remove a low or expended ink cartridge, you cannot reinstall and use the cartridge.
    1. Make sure the product is turned on.
    2. Press OK to the ink related error message displayed on the LCD screen.
    3. Open the scanner, then open the cartridge cover.
    4. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge you just replaced and lift the cartridge straight up to remove it.

Warning: If ink gets on your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children.
    5. Make sure the yellow tape on the bottom of the ink cartridge was removed (it should have been removed when you first installed the ink cartridge).

Caution: Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak.
    6. Insert the ink cartridge back into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place.
    7. Press down the other ink cartridges to make sure they are properly seated. (You will hear a click if any unseated cartridges are pushed into place.)
    8. Close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.
    9. Close the scanner.
    10. Press OK to begin charging the ink. This takes about 2 1/2 minutes. When you see a completion message on the LCD screen, ink priming is finished.

    11. Caution: Never turn off your Epson printer while ink is priming or you'll waste ink.
