Rated 1 out of 5 by from Installation software faillure On 11/17/2021, I purchased a Wf-2850 printer from my local Walmart to install it for my company. This installation, I did on 11/18/2021 at the customer’s location. During the installation of the driver and application software, I noticed that there was no chance to select a change to the installation location. This fact put up a “red flag”, in that I have had software installation problems on computer systems when I am not presented with the option to change the location of the software’s installation location. Even without a destination location selection, everything proceeded with the installation until the end, when I was directed to register the printer with your company’s website. I was asked to fill in the name, the street address, the city where I live. But not the State where I live nor the Country in which I reside? Just the Providence. And of course, the Providences were all for the Countries of Canada ( since Canada is the only Country containing Providences ). So I was forced to leave the field of that form blank and went on to the Zip Code field entry with which I entered my 5-digit zip code for where I live. I then filed out the remainder of the form and clicked on the “Submit” button. Much to my surprise, I was presented with an “Error” message that informed me that I must select a Providence ( even though I don’t live in a Providence ). I finally decided that even though I didn’t live in a Providence, I would pick on one and go on with the registration. That was great until I received an “Error” message indicating that the zip code was inappropriate ( i.e., wrong for the Providence that I had chosen ). Now I was in a real pickle because I had no idea of the correct zip code for the Providence I had selected. I ended up aborting the registration process and the complete installation program. My next surprise was when I tried to use the scanner part of the WF-2850 product ( I had no immediate need for the printer portion of your product as I have 2 high-speed laser printers that I routinely use for my everyday use ). Selecting the “Epson Scan 2” from the “Windows 10 Start” menu resulted in a dialog box that read “The scanner is in use or unavailable. Please wait. (E1460-8304)”. Whether I waited or tried again at a later time ( or a day later ), it didn’t matter, the same error message was displayed. Upon some relatively routine investigation work, I found that the software installation program violated some basic principles of the Windows programming guidelines. There is a value called “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProgramFilesDir” in the registry that contains the default location ( actually a drive letter and a subdirectory ) where all software should be installed. In the case of your installation software, your program ignored this registry value and never gave the computer user the chance to make any change to where the software was going to be installed. It never gave any consideration to the fact that hard drive “C” was not a suitable location ( for some reason ) for the installation of the software. It installed some of the software to the default location of drive “C:” and installed the remainder of the software, following the guidelines of the registry entry ( thus locating the remainder of the software on drive “D:” ). But the “Start Menu” entries were all tagged and pointed to the programs on the drive “C:”, not to the programs that had been installed to the “D” programs. The end result was that when the user selected some of the “Start Menu” programs, they failed because the programs could not be found on the drive specified in the “Target Line” specification (file not found). But the problem doesn’t end at this point. Not only did your installation program improperly install itself, but I also noticed that a couple of my other icons ( in the “Start” menu ) had changed from their distinctive look to “generic” icon ( meaning the pointer to the program’s icon file had been lost and Windows was not substituting the default icon file in its place ). Turns out that many of my program groups ( in the “Start” menu ) had been modified. Their “Property/Target” lines had been changed from a drive letter “D” to a drive letter “C”. This all happened during the process of installing your company’s printer installation software. The whole issue is that the installation program is improperly conceived and implemented and fails to meet even a minimum standard of acceptable performance criteria. I can’t tell you the hours of work that will be required to fix the damage that was caused by your software. In a manner of a couple of minutes, your company’s software has caused damage 20 plus hours of downtime that will equate to many thousands of dollars to my company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never Works I got this printer since I'm still working from home and always seem to have issues with it. Even right now, it says that everything is calibrated but it won't print - super frustrating!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Drivers Don't Work Have been trying multiply things for WEEKS just trying to get the drivers to find the printer so I can print wireless. Keeps saying it can't find the printer. Disappointed that I spent so many hours trying to just get the drivers to work. The site's directions and links give ways to help but so far none have work. Spent hours looking at videos and reading with no luck.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only worth it if you are a stay at home person You have to load up Everytime you want to print off something. You have to reconnect with the printer Everytime you leave the house and come back in. It doesn't have good connection and hard to connect and stay connected.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Network issues I bought this printer about a month ago. At first I was happy to see that it was compact and simple to use. I spent hours connecting it because of Wi-Fi issues so I thought it was my homes network. There are other printers and computers in the house that work just fine. I finally got it working and used it one day. I turned it off just like I do to my computer at night, and the next morning it didn't work. Again with Wi-Fi issues. It's an ink guzzler because every time you get an error it prints.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Epson I've owned in 20+ years Our graphics company had and currently has numerous Epson printers from simple desktops to 17" roll fed photo and wide format printers. When it comes to inexpensive All-In-One desktop printers, this is the worst Epson product I have ever seen. Replaced a XP-400 with the 2850 because it uses the same ink and has the same specs as the numerous XP-4100 printers we have. I don't expect proof quality prints from a desktop printer, but the 2850 prints appear faded and not nearly as crisp as either the XP-400 or 4100, when using the same color profile. I wouldn't dare try to actually print a photograph on expensive photo paper with the 2850. The scanner is ridiculously slow and noisy. It does not have near the scan tools of the XP-400 or 4100. If you copy and print mainly text documents, then this is the printer for you. If you need to scan anything with an image on it or print anything in color, run as fast and as far as you can from this piece of garbage (and probably any other low-mid range WorkForce printer). Wireless connection? Why, if you can't use all of its functions? Having fax capabilities on a inkjet printer is insanely stupid. The ink consumption & cost would be outrageous. A Canon or Brother laser printer fax is substantially cheaper to operate. You'd save enough in ink costs alone the buy both a non-fax color inkjet printer AND a laser printer for faxing. I'll be taking this printer to my older sister's house tonight and swapping it for her XP-4100, because I don't like her much.

6 Replacement cartridge yields are based on ISO/IEC 24711 tests in Default Mode printing continuously. Replacement cartridge photo yields are based on the ISO/IEC 29102 photo yield standard. Cartridge yields vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink colour. All ink colours are used for printing and printer maintenance, and all colours have to be installed for printing. For print quality, part of the ink from the included cartridges is used for printer startup and a variable amount of ink remains in the cartridges after the “replace cartridge” signal.
