Rated 5 out of 5 by from WF-7720 is GREAT! Was looking for a printer that could print on both 8x11 & 11x17 paper. When the WF-7720 went on sale, I took my old EPSON printer in and received an additional $50.00 of the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so good I bought a BRAND NEW Epson printer and it died a few months later. It was a replaced with a REFURBISHED printer that prints terribly an will not scan. Folks at Office Depot" said "they are sorry".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 7720 model is a Major Worseification fr earlier 7620 The earlier Epson 7620 model was great, which was replaced by this later 7720 model. Unfortunately, one of the most functional & valuable functions of the earlier model was inexplicably discontinued in the newer 7720 model, through Epson’s inexcusable bad judgment, which removal made the 7720 model inferior to its predecessor 7620 model. The new model does not allow the user to return to the “Main Settings” during any scanning process. This means that whatever size you initially set the scanner at; you can NOT change the scanning size any time during a multi-page scan. So if one has a multiple page document, where you have many different sized pages, some that you might want a full glass scan, another legal size, another letter size, etc., you will be stuck to scanning ALL pages at a single size. Also all pages within the document can only be scanned in as either single-sided or double sided; you can not go back to the “main settings” to modify this during a multi-page scan. This is UTTERLY outrageous. – This removes critical functionality. The many positive reviews of the 7720 suggest that most of those did not need or utilize this function much. But there are many, (like myself, who regularly scan lengthy documents of 60-plus pages, of a wide-variety of page sizes), that find this function indispensable. The above ‘worsification’ was so problematic for me, that it overshadowed any and all of the many otherwise improvements Epson made to the newer model. IMPERFECT “Improvements”: #1. In the “Image Type” options they added “Auto” as one of the selection options, (which allows the scanner to determine if each page should be scanned in as color, gray scale or black and white). [This does not do enough to justify removal of the access to “main settings” ever if the “Auto” option worked adequately (which is does not). However this option needs major improvement. The “auto” setting does not scan in colored documents as well as the “color” setting; the same for black and white; and ESPEIALLY the documents that would best be scanned in as “gray scale” are often altogether unreadable. – And with the “main settings” not being accessible, there is no way to recover that page within this multi-page scan when using the “Edit” option. Just think of how a 60-plus page document with a dozen pages that would best be scanned in a gray scale (and thus would be very readable), but now those dozen pages are unreadable during your edit, with no way to correct it within that scan. I do NOT make a living selling scanners, or all-in-one printers; yet there is no part of my body from the uppermost point of hair on the top of my head to the bottom of my foot that would ever, Ever, EVER imagine eliminating continuous access to the “main settings” which would correct this problem entirely. How is it possible that those whose livelihood is based on scanning would have made such a blunder? – It is just unimaginable to me that they removed return access to the “main settings” throughout the scanning process. #2. They added an elevation bevel at the location where the ADP scanned documents exits (after they are scanned). This makes is MUCH easier to grab the exiting pages. In the prior model (lack of this ramp), it was a bit difficult to grab exited pages. – However this needs further improvement as for legal sized documents, the friction of the subsequent pages that slide over and come in friction contact with the prior exited pages, push the prior exited pages off the printer (onto the floor). This could be corrected by elevating the page-exit location higher above the scanned page exit-landing platform. IMPROVEMENTS: #1 I cannot remember if the “”Auto Detect” option for “Document Source” selection was included in the prior 7620 model, but it is a very valuable option (in this 7720). #2 The “custom size” option was improved over the older model. [It is easier to type in a custom size.] #3 They added many new pre-set sizes to choose from (easier accommodation). SUMMARY: However, these above and other improvements, are ALL altogether [redundant for emphasis] negatively overshadowed by the removal of continual access to the “Main Settings.” This is something that DEMANDS a software update to correct and not something that should wait for the next model. Epson’s technicians informed me that Epson had no intent to modify the 7720 software to correct this problem, which I consider as a “crime of product worsification.” And translates as Epson’s lack of dedication to accommodate the legitimate needs of their customers and my swearing off any future purchase of another Epson model after this PS I intend to give a separate REVIEW on this 7720 model’s copy/scan color recognition and duplication abilities [which in my case, is very inferior to the earlier 7620 model, especially in the colors of yellow and orange [I always only use Epson’s ink (supplied by Epson directly).]
