Rated 3 out of 5 by from EPSON 400 DUPLEX DOC SCANNER GREAT WITH LITTLE THINGS Got it to work and it made everything easier. Love how easy it is to scan and rename or move to files I want the docs in. Organizes paperwork. Scans different sizes well. Easy to fix a jam. Little issues. Sometimes gets stuck with an error and I have to restart. There is no troubleshooting within the system itself. Some errors you have to call about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good solid performer I had a Neat desktop scanner which was pretty good but company seemed to change model and software became buggy. I donated it and bought an Epson ES 400 scanner. It is better, quicker, and has more functionality. Also much quieter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Scanner Ever!! Purchased this scanner after much deliberation and comparisons amongst other brands. Normally use scanner on another MFP that I own, however, need to scan two file cabinets of documents for organizational purposes. Was looking for an affordable scanner that wouldn't break the bank while proving excellent quality. After reading other reviews, I decided on this one. I was fully prepared for disappointment since I chose the least expensive model, Boy Was I surprised. Not only did I successfully scan over 2,000 pages in a single weekend, but I managed to finish fast enough to continue scanning other stuff I had planned to do later on. If this scanner helped me do this, I wonder just how much better the more expensive model is? Using the Epson Software, scanning is very easy, may be difficult for the less technically inclined. Definitely Recommend!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Disappointing I bought this machine to replace a competitors machine that took a power surge from a lightning storm. When I got it set up and started scanning documents I noticed that the speed of the scan was very slow. I adjusted the resolution but the scan was still painfully slow and the quality of the scan was poor. Unfortunately I had to return the ES-400 and order a scanner of the same make and model that I had been using previously. This is not a business class machine in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around scanner When I bought this I was looking at mainly scanning documents and receipts, found that I was able to also scan photos. I have a lot of photos 3 x 5 and 5 x 7 over the years and now have them digitally. Takes a lot less time for all when I compare it to the flatbed scanner I have been using.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ES-400 Over the week I have had the Epson ES-400 duplex scanner I have seen amazing results, with extremely fast scanning speeds with great quality. The scanner connects very quickly to your computer and is easy to use. The auto document feeder is a great tool, stack your papers and hit scan! The quick scan software offers PDF scanning and JPG Scanning. Scanning long items like store receipts is just as easy. The scanner will easily scan the entire receipt! Overall I am very happy with the ES-400 Duplex scanner, it saves me time and works great! I received this product for free from a beta test, with an unbiased review of the product in return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for starters Generally, the Epson ES-400 scanner does precisely what it's planned to do. The scanner was not a hassle to set up. The instructions were easy to follow and not confusing. It is compact and not bulky, so it doesn't take up lots of space. Since I have a small work space it's been convenient. Going into specs of it, I love that you can load multiple pages without delays. It can scan both sides of a document at the same time. Which makes it time saving. You can also scan files and get uploaded directly to my Dropbox account. Including editing my uploaded files in Word. Bottom line I really like this scanner and recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Difficult installation. Super fast scanner. This is a review for the Epson ES-400 Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Unboxing & Setup Unboxing was straightforward. The scanner is well packaged with lots of blue tapes. Includes a USB 3.0 high-speed cable (fantastic Epson included this). The scanners physical footprint is small and compact. Installations was a difficult process, as my laptop does not have a USB 3.0 port. When I plug in the scanner, it would not show as connected. I had to find a USB 2.0 cable to make it connect with my computer. Would have been nice if Epson would have included this information in the setup card that USB 3.0 cable will not work in a USB 2.0. An option of built-in Ethernet port would have been awesome! Scanning & Function Once the difficult process of installing was over this scanner works great. Really really fast even at high resolution. I can imagine having USB 3.0 will only be faster. I like how the paper tray holds large documents. This will be great when I scan in my large mortgage loan documents. Overall, I like the product would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightning Fast and Accurate Business and Home Scanner Packaging: The Epson Workforce ES-400 Document Scanner in black came in a compact box tightly packed with all cables properly bagged and taped down so they did not move about in the product box. The actual scanner was packaged between two sturdy styrofoam ends and placed in a protective bag to avoid scratches. The scanner had no room for movement and traveled via FedEx very well. Once the scanner is removed from the protective bag every single moving part was properly taped down and protected so that movement from transit would not damage or break the product. Setup: Included in the box was a simple Start Here guide which identified all the proper parts that should have been included in the box as well as how to properly remove the protective tape. Step 2 simply involved going directly to the Epson support site to download the Driver and Software Utility to install and setup the scanner. The website easily detected the correct version of Windows (including 64 bit) I was using and provided the direct download link. Once downloaded the setup file was super quick and easy and walks you through setup which literally took less than 5 minutes. Once the setup was complete the Epson Software Updater checked the firmware version of the scanner and instructed that an update was available. The Epson Software Updater does look a little outdated as far as software goes these days but it quickly downloaded and installed the firmware update for the scanner in about 2 minutes. Once the software and firmware were installed and updated the scanner was ready to go. Operation: The Epson Workforce ES-400 Document Scanner has a really small footprint especially when closed up and not in use. Once installed I tested various documents and scan settings resulting in better than expected results. Not only was this thing fast but the quality of the scans were amazing and really provided the detail needed to archive documents. I love the ability to scan both sides of a document at once as this not only speeds up your scanning but makes the process so much easier as you do not have to constant flip paper and try to remember what side you already scanned such as use with a flatbed scanner (my previous scanner). Controls were simple to figure out and the included software made it easy to start scanning in the file formats you want right out of the box with no hassle whatsoever. Conclusion: If you're in the market for a stand alone scanner or scan many documents day to day, take a serious look at the Epson Workforce ES-400 Document Scanner as it is fast, accurate and easy to setup while taking up little space when in use and especially when not. This is a review for the Epson ES-400 Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product For quite some time now I have been yearning for Epson to make me higher end of their WorkForce Scanner Series compatible with Mac. While I can say the wait is finally over, the results are sadly mixed. First, let's get to the positive attributes of this robust duplex scanner. It churns through pages like a champ. It scans just about anything you throw at it quickly, efficiently, and without the hassle of constant jams. It's office equipment that works so well that it's almost fun to watch. This new scanner from Epson boasts scanning speeds up to 35 pages per minute (two-sided!) and features a 50-page auto document feeder (ADF) that you can literally put any type of paper or card through. You can scan directly to online storage like DropBox or Google Drive as well. A nice touch if you keep docs in the cloud. This scanner is a TWAIN scanner, so if your office already uses TWAIN, good for you. For the rest of us, not so much. Epson also includes a suite of software in an attempt to make document organization quick and easy. You can turn any paper docs into searchable and editable files with the bundled OCR software. The software promises a lot and doesn't quite deliver. It's clunky and needs a real re-tooling. Paired with some newer software from Adobe might be the way to use this otherwise robust scanner. All in all, though I was impressed by this scanners speed, relative ease of setup, and easy scanning of virtually any size document including business and thicker ID cards, folded thermal receipts, and more, the software just isn't up to the standard of other scanners, like the ones from Fujitsu. For basic scanning however, the performance of this Duplex scanner is hard to beat and all at a very competitive and fair price as compared to its competitors. It has a nice hefty, high quality feel to it. Nice design overall. For those of you looking for a wireless/wifi enabled version of this scanner, Epson just released a newer WiFi enabled model, the ES-500, which I will review separately. This is a review for the Epson ES-400 Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

WorkForce ES-400 Earns 4/5 “Excellent” Rating from PCMag.com
